Shepparton detectives have confirmed they have one person in custody following a bomb hoax threat that sent a number of schools into lockdown last week.
Shepparton police Detective Senior Constable Jason Brown said as of yesterday the investigation into the matter remained ongoing.
The investigation comes after police attended a number of schools, including Wangauni Park Secondary College, McGuire College and Shepparton High School, last Friday.
An Education Department spokesperson said police attended the schools that day to "conduct safety checks" and as a precaution a number of surrounding primary schools were advised to activate their emergency management plans.
The spokesperson also said Friday's incident was the second of its kind for Wanganui Park Secondary College last week, with police attending the school last Wednesday to do similar safety checks.
Det Sen Const Brown urged anyone with information about the incidents to phone him at the Shepparton police station on 5820 5777.
Alternatively, a confidential report can be made through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
