Council has opened applications for the latest round of the Community Strengthening Grants round, with up to $10,000 available to support community organisations across the shire.
Council chair administrator Graeme Emonson said the grants program played an important role in supporting local community groups.
“Community organisations are vital to what makes Moira Shire a great place to live,” Dr Emonson said.
“These grants help support projects that bring people together, improve our local environment and promote health and wellbeing across our communities.”
The grants are designed to strengthen community involvement by supporting organisations to develop services, manage facilities, co-ordinate events and promote tourism, environmental sustainability and health.
Successful applicants and projects from previous years have included the purchase of pitch covers and a heat mat at the Katamatite Cricket Club and a Christmas yarn-bombing project with the Numurkah Yarners Craft Fellowship Club.
Seven project categories are supported by the grant.
These include arts and culture, community events, equipment, environmental sustainability, health promotion, tourism and other community projects.
Applications close on Monday, September 15.
