This year’s festival invites older members of our community to come together, discover new interests and celebrate.
Mayor Bernie Hearn said council was proud to support this annual statewide festival, which brings older people together and encourages new experiences.
“This year’s program in Benalla Rural City features more than 40 low-cost or free activities,” Cr Hearn said.
“This year’s festival is a reflection of what we’re working towards every day at council, creating an age-friendly Benalla Rural City.
“With around one-fifth of our city’s population aged 60 and over, it is important to have a greater focus on finding ways for older adults to connect with others in the community and support activities and programs that promote positive ageing, and this is one of the key aims of the Seniors Festival.”
In addition, all Victorian Seniors cardholders receive eight days of free public transport, running from Sunday, October 5 to Sunday, October 12.
Free transport is an initiative of Public Transport Victoria.
