For those who can’t speak Italian, that translates to, “Life is too short to drive boring cars.”
Motoring enthusiast and car show judge Leo Notarianni lives by this rule with a fierce passion for Italian cars, history and culture.
Having co-ordinated the motor vehicle display at the Shepparton Italian Festa in previous years, he’s urging more owners of Italian cars, motorcycles and bicycles to get involved this year and make it the biggest display at the annual event yet.
There is no fee to enter vehicles, nor is it necessary to pre-register (although you can), with people encouraged to just “rock up on the day”.
Vehicle owners also do not need to commit to leaving their cars and bikes there for the entirety of the event.
“They are able to come and go at their leisure, but are encouraged to stay so they can enjoy the many and varied attractions, stalls, delicious Italian food and live entertainment,” Mr Notarianni said.
Leo Notarriani will have vintage posters, photographs and other memorabilia on display along with the Italian car, motorcycle and bicycle show he’s co-ordinating for the Shepparton Italian Festa.
There are several Italian-themed categories where prize plaques will be awarded to winners after being judged by Mr Notarianni, including Viva I Motori Italiani (motoring), Viva Le Motociclette (motorcycles), Viva I Motori Italiani D'epoca (motor memorabilia), Viva I Viaggi D'epoca (vintage travel), Viva I Cinematografi (cinema) and Viva La lattereuata (literature).
“Italian festivals are very popular in capital cities and in rural areas, and the Shepparton Italian Festa is continuing to grow,” Mr Notorianni said.
“The motoring and cultural displays and exhibits are an important part of the celebration of Italian culture in Australia, as it provides a visual aid for the celebration of Italian culture in Australia.”
The fifth Shepparton Italian Festa will take place at the Shepparton Showgrounds on Saturday, March 14.
Entry to the festa is free and it will feature all things Italian, including food stalls, live entertainment, amusement rides and market stalls.
A fireworks display will round out the event.
