Greater Shepparton City Council announced on June 6 that the regional city had been selected as a finalist in the 2025 TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards.
Securing its spot among 25 finalists across three categories — Top Tourism Town (population over 5000), Small Tourism Town (population between 1500 and 5000), and Tiny Tourism Town (population under 1500) — the recognition highlights Shepparton’s rise as a must-visit destination.
Council says community support is vital, with the public voting in the final stage to determine winners.
“Let’s put Shepparton in the spotlight and secure the title of Victoria’s Top Tourism Town,” Mayor Shane Sali said.
“Visitors are often surprised by what Shepparton has to offer. This recognition allows us to share our wonderful attractions, not only with the rest of Victoria but also with our own community.”
Voting opened on June 6 and closes at 5pm on Friday, June 27.
Winners will be revealed less than a month later at the Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards evening at the Museum of Vehicle Evolution on Wednesday, July 23.
The event has previously been held in destinations including the Yarra Valley, Sorrento and Lancefield.
“Council is excited to be hosting this year’s Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards ceremony,” Cr Sali said.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to welcome Victoria Tourism Industry Council and fellow award nominees to the region, ensuring Shepparton and Goulburn Valley takes centre stage.”
Voters will go in the draw to win a luxurious weekend in Melbourne for two, including two nights’ accommodation at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and dining vouchers at some of the city’s top restaurants.
