Senior citizens groups across Campaspe are set to benefit from a funding pool for events and programs catered to our region’s oldest residents.
Rochester Bowls Club, Rochester Senior Citizens Club, Rochester Probus Club and Lockington and District Senior Citizens are among the recipients of grants from a pool of $12,406 from Campaspe Shire Council’s Seniors Program Grants.
- Rochester Bowls Club will put the funding towards a fun lawn bowls day during the Senior’s Festival.
- Funding for the Rochester Senior Citizens Club will support a Christmas in July social event.
- Rochester Probus Club will put on a special event for its 29th anniversary and 50 years of Probus celebration with the funding.
- Lockington and District Senior Citizens will put its funding towards its annual Christmas luncheon.
The Seniors Program Grants support activities, events and programmes that celebrate positive ageing, strengthen meaningful social connections and encourage older residents to stay active, involved and engaged right across shire.
Mayor Daniel Mackrell said the grants program was created to bolster support and recognise the efforts of groups doing incredible work for Campaspe’s older residents.
“It’s great to see the variety of events taking place that benefit the older members of our community,” he said.
