The fourth annual Over-60 Bowls Charity Day was held on Wednesday, February 4, with 104 bowlers across 26 teams descending upon Tatura Bowls Club for a day of friendly competition.
This year’s event raised a record $2112 for GV Hospice, the highest total since the charity initiative began.
All funds will go directly towards supporting GV Hospice’s palliative care services, including the purchase of essential equipment and ongoing care for local patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
Goulburn Valley Over-60s Bowls Association president Graham Crawford said they “couldn’t be more grateful” to the bowlers, the businesses that donated and the volunteers who helped organise the day.
“We’re thrilled by the incredible generosity shown by everyone who participated in the over-60s bowls day,” he said.
“This is a wonderful example of how sport and community can come together to make a real difference.”
GV Hospice chief executive Wendy Ross accepts the donation from Goulburn Valley Over 60s Bowls Association secretary Warren Snow.
