The Deniliquin Rams Football & Netball Club has this month received $33,970 from the NSW Government’s 2025 Community Building Partnership Program.
Deni Rams facilities and major projects co-ordinator Michael Todd said it would go a long way to installing the new high quality PA system, which has been costed at $55,000 in total.
Mr Todd said the project would be completed in stages, giving the Rams more time to raise the remaining funds.
But with partial funding provided, Mr Todd said the club would now consult the businesses who quoted for the project and aim for completion by the start of the 2026 football and netball season.
Mr Todd said the PA system will be installed to include various zones across the Hardinge St facility.
“The PA system will ensure that the facilities offer the best experience it can for participants and spectators of football, netball, little athletics, touch rugby, school carnivals and various community groups that use the clubrooms, oval and courts,” he said.
“On average, each week, we have over 590 people who participate or spectate at the Hardinge St Oval.
“The grant will enable us to implement stage one and two of the installation of a new public address system for the Hardinge St facility.
“The total project has an estimated cost of $55,000, with the grant providing partial funding.
“The club has agreed, as part of the application, to contribute $10,000 to the project to start, and over the next month or so we will be looking for avenues to secure the remaining funds to complete the project.
“The first stage will be the ‘brains’, as they call it, and once that’s in place, then it is a matter of adding the zones which can be individually selected to speak to when using the system.
“They will likely include the upstairs of the clubrooms, the function room, all outside areas such as the football oval, netball courts and athletics facilities.”
On behalf of the Rams, Mr Todd thanked those involved with the grant program, and the Rams’ sponsors who made the funding possible.
“We’d like to thank our local member Helen Dalton, Member for Murray for her support in awarding the funds through the Community Building Partnerships 2025.
“It’s always great to get grant funding.
“In the past five to 10 years, the club has put a lot of work into the grant space.
“We have a dedicated team of volunteers who make grant applications on our behalf. A lot of time and effort goes into these grant applications with a focus of improving the facility for the community.
“The grants, along with football club funds that we raise each year from sponsorship, fundraising, partnerships and operations, allows us to invest in the facility for our community.”
