A minor flood warning was issued for the Murray River downstream of Hume Dam to Tocumwal on Monday, July 10, with minor flooding occurring at Corowa.
At noon the Murray River at Corowa was 4.84m and rising, with the peak expected to be 4.90m later in the day.
Minor flooding continues along the Murray River between Tocumwal and Barham.
The Murray River at Torrumbarry Weir was 7.22m on Monday and rising slowly. It may reach the minor flood (7.30m) level during Tuesday.
The Murray River at Barham was 5.73m on Monday and rising slowly, and may reach the moderate flood level (5.80m) during Tuesday.
The Goulburn River at Seymour was 3.55m and rising on Monday, with the Bureau of Meteorology saying the minor flood level of 3.8m may be reached overnight into Tuesday.
At Shepparton, the Goulburn River was around 8.87m and steady (below the minor flood level of 9.5m) on Monday, while the Broken River reached 3.89m — well below the minor flood level of 6.8m.
Communities had been on alert with rain forecast for the weekend, catchments already quite wet and river and stream levels high.
Shepparton recorded just under 4mm between Friday and Sunday, Benalla 9mm and Lake Eildon almost 19mm.
In what will no doubt bring relief for many, not much rain is expected for the rest of the week.
