Firefighters were called to the grassfire on New Dookie Rd at 2.30pm on Monday, December 8, and by 4pm it was still not yet under control.
By 4pm, the fire had already burnt an area 1km by 2km in size.
Police blocked several roads in the area during the fire.

According to Vic Emergency, the fire is travelling in an easterly direction from Boundary Rd.
Sixteen CFA fire appliances, supported by Fire and Rescue crews, are fighting the fire.
The fire bombing helicopter is also on scene.

A CFA spokesperson said heavy smoke from the fire was showing in the area.
A Vic Emergency alert has been made for people in the Lemnos, Pine Lodge and Shepparton East areas to stay informed.
It said that while there was currently no threat to residents, people should stay informed and monitor conditions.
CFA and Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters fought the large fire.
They are also asked to keep roads clear in the area so emergency services can respond.
Police have blocked New Dookie Rd from Central Ave, while Old Dookie Rd has been blocked from Boundary Rd.
