A fire inside a central Shepparton supermarket was quickly contained this week, avoiding further damage to property and risk to people.

A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said FRV, supported by the CFA, responded to the incident in Vaughan St, after a caller to Triple Zero reported the incident at 8.35pm on Tuesday, February 17.
The fire was inside a waste compactor at Coles supermarket.
“Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes and contained the fire to the compactor before quickly extinguishing it,” the FRV spokesperson said.
“Firefighters checked for fire extension and ventilated the scene.”
FRV deemed the incident under control at 8.46pm.
“WorkSafe and the council health inspector were notified,” the spokesperson said.
