SAM Selects and SAM Spotlight, designed for emerging to mid-career creatives, offer the chance to exhibit work in the museum’s Hugh D.T. Williamson Community Gallery.
The successful SAM Selects exhibition will receive $1000 to support project delivery.
“Participating in SAM Spotlight or SAM Selects is a great step towards connecting your creative practice with a large audience,” SAM curator community Caroline Esbenshade said.
“Even if your submission is unsuccessful for this round, just going through the application process has merit — every application is read by our curatorial team, giving you valuable exposure, feedback and a chance to develop application materials.”
Previous SAM Selects exhibitions have included ‘Echoes of a New Eden’ by Beechworth-based artist Dore Stockhausen in 2025, and ‘After the Rain’ by Echuca-based artist collective Tuesday Junction in 2023.
SAM Spotlight, a paid solo exhibition opportunity, focuses specifically on emerging artists from the Goulburn Valley region.
The selected artist will work with Ms Esbenshade over 12 months to develop new work.
“SAM Spotlight provided an opportunity to work with curator Caroline Esbenshade, and the focus to develop and consolidate my artistic practice,” 2024 SAM Spotlight artist Carmel Robertson said.
“Having my body of work professionally curated and displayed in a public gallery allowed it to reach a wider audience.”
An information session will be held at SAM on September 8 at 5.30pm. Registrations are open via Humanitix: events.humanitix.com/information-session-opportunities-to-exhibit-at-samq4dw7czd
Applications for both opportunities close on October 1. Full details and application forms are available at: sheppartonartmuseum.com.au/support-get-involved/exhibitat-sam/
