The driver involved in a fatal collision at Lancaster on Friday, January 20, where a Shepparton man died, will remain on bail as he awaits his next court appearance.
Riley Jack Camin, 18, of Deniliquin, pleaded guilty in Echuca Magistrates’ Court to dangerous driving causing death.
He was one of the drivers involved in a two-vehicle collision on the corner of Lancaster and Dunbar Rds, Lancaster, about 10.35pm on January 20.
The driver of the other vehicle, Shepparton man Alexander Eagle, died at the scene.
His passenger, an 18-year-old, was flown to a Melbourne hospital with serious injuries.
Mr Camin appeared briefly in court on Tuesday, January 24, in a filing hearing.
In court, police requested an extension to the usual amount of time needed to prepare a hand-up brief for court proceedings, asking for 12 weeks to allow for a reconstruction of the collision to occur, as well as the results of toxicology reports to be returned.
Magistrate Trieu Huynh granted the application, with April 19 set down for the paperwork to be given to the defence by.
Mr Camin will face Bendigo Magistrates’ Court in May for a committal mention.
Mr Camin was already on bail and the magistrate extended it until his next court appearance.
