However, sometimes deciding which club or activity to join is tough.
To make the decision a little easier, Tomorrow Today is once again hosting a Come and Try Day.
Now in its ninth year, the free event will showcase more than 20 local clubs and recreation organisations who will share fun, hands-on activities with the community.
Tomorrow Today’s youth engagement co-ordinator, Alex Ross, said the Come and Try Day is a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to have a go at a range of things before making a long-term commitment.
“It’s convenient for parents and families too,” Alex said.
“Instead of having to get the kids to different locations to try a sport or hobby, everything is in one place.”
As an added bonus, the event also promotes and support local clubs.
“Come and Try Day is a chance for local clubs to capture the next generation of members and volunteers,” Alex said.
“It's a perfect way for them to support the longevity of their club or association and share the passion and enthusiasm they have with new people.”
This year there will be representatives from Benalla’s Football Clubs, Astronomy Benalla, Benalla Badminton, the Bandits Baseball Club, Benalla Basketball, Gibbs Taekwondo, Benalla Bowls Club, Benalla’s Cricket Clubs, North Eastern Archers, Benalla Darts, TDA Performing Arts, Scouts and Venturers, Girl Guides, Tatong Anglers Club, Little Athletics, Room At The Table, the Junior Fire Brigade, Lawn Tennis, the Gliding Club of Victoria, Valley Sports, the Rose City Band and Tomorrow Today’s Full Impact Squad.
“We’ve got a fantastic line-up of clubs this year, and we’re excited to be welcoming some new faces as well as the organisations who support the event every year,” Alex said.
“We are hoping to see lots of people coming along to see the amazing array of things Benalla has to offer.”
Come and Try Day is for people aged five –19 and their families.
It will be held from 10am to 1pm on Sunday, September 14 at the Benalla Indoor Recreation Centre and All Blacks Reserve.
There will be a free sausage sizzle provided by the Rotary Club of Benalla.
