Now, Berrigan Shire Council wants to hear from you, with two drop-in sessions to be held in Barooga and Tocumwal this month.
Community members are invited to have their say on the development of a Flood Risk Management Study and Plan by the council, courtesy of NSW Government funding.
Community accounts of past flooding events, including flood hotspots and problem areas, will help the council understand flood behaviour to better inform flood risk management for the two riverside towns.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate practical and feasible flood risk management options, both due to riverine flooding (from the Murray River) and overland flooding from local storms.
Up-to-date models will be used to test and recommend various flood mitigation options, such as levee upgrades and improvements to drainage infrastructure.
The drop-in sessions will be held in Barooga, at the Barooga Library on Wednesday, September 17, from 3pm to 5pm.
On Thursday, September 18, another session will be held at the Tocumwal Library from 3pm to 5pm.
