The forum is being hosted by the Committee for Greater Shepparton later this month, with all candidates invited to take part.
C4GS chief executive Lindy Nieuwenhuizen said the event would be a question and answer format moderated by herself and Darren Linton from The Shepparton News.
“If you look at how we’ve set it up, it probably is one of the few opportunities you’ll get to see every candidate answer the same question at the same time,” she said.
“We have a very interesting race shaping up and for that reason it’s really important for voters across the region to understand the candidates so they can make an informed decision on election day.”
Ms Nieuwenhuizen said the free event was open to C4GS members and Nicholls constituents, who could register online via Evenbrite.
Five candidates have so far nominated for Nicholls — Sam Birrell for the Nationals, Steve Brooks for the Liberal Party, Dr Rob Peterson for the United Australia Party, independent Rob Priestly and One Nation candidate Ricki-Lee Tyrell.
Ms Nieuwenhuizen said if additional candidates are confirmed before the event they will be included.
She also encouraged the Goulburn Valley’s youth, or people voting for the first time, to participate.
The forum will be held at Riverlinks Eastbank Centre, 70 Welsford St, Shepparton, from 5.30pm and 7pm on Tuesday, April 26.
People can submit up to three questions, either when they register or via email to jodie.fleming@c4gs.com.au
