With all of the generous donations the Ky P-12 Chaplaincy has received from the community, Chaplain Liz Spicer has been able to provide food, tea, coffee and cleaning products to stock the Year 12 pantry.
Some kids may not be in a position to be able to bring lunch to school, so this pantry is there to make sure they don’t have to worry because the community has made sure they won’t go hungry.
One of the Year 12 captains, Miller Griffiths, said: “We love you Liz (Spicer) thanks for all the Milo, milk and cleaning products for our kitchen and all the other things you do.”
For more than 21 years people have been walking up to Ms Spicer and putting cash in her hands for her to use in her community work.
“I think it’s a miracle every time someone comes up and donates, people are very generous. I’m really grateful, they turn up with groceries and clothing,” she said.
All these donations go to people in the community who need a hand, and through Ms Spicer those resources are always consistently available.
“Not only has Chaplaincy generously donated to the Year 12s in all forms, providing resources, paying for students who are doing it hard also food and clothing, but they have given donations for 21 years. Thank you so much,“ Ky P-12’s Year 12 co-ordinator Kerry Gannon said.
She is available to the community seven days a week, because for her it is not a job its a calling from on high.
Even the churches in the area donate to Ms Spicer’s Chaplaincy to support the work she does for the community.
The Year 12 pantry, which is currently chockers with donated goods, will be stocked throughout the year by Chaplaincy, Ms Spicer said.
