Cobram Uniting Church’s Mission Lunch draws a full house

Guests then enjoyed sticky date pudding, apple cake and slices, all served with a hot cuppa.

Cobram Uniting Church Ladies Guild president Margaret Watson said guest speaker Dr Derek Pang kept the audience spellbound.

“He related his inspirational story of Fathering Adventures; the guided father and child experiences help to have healthier relationships, stronger bonds, a deeper understanding of one another, new direction and more,” she said.

“Dr Pang said it was the best investment he had ever made when he took his daughter to the Fathering Adventures Camp in Queensland, and one which he will always treasure.

“He said a father’s relationship to health often suffers due to constant daily distractions. He has since enjoyed the experience with his two sons, which is a testament to the value of such experiences for a father and his children.”

Ms Watson said a presentation was made to Dr Pang supporting the work on Fathering Experiences.

She said a substantial amount of the funds raised would also go towards shipping more than 100 Samaritans Purse Christmas Child Shoe Boxes that the Cobram Uniting Church is packing for disadvantaged children in the Pacific Islands and Cambodia.

“For many, it will be the first gift they have ever received,” Ms Watson said.

“A display featuring ‘Spinning through the Ages’ and ‘Serviette Cards,’ crafted by Heather Hosie, proved to be a great talking point.

“All in all, it was a great day of fellowship together and one of reaching out to the wider community.”
