Nominations for the 2025 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards are now open, recognising the vital contributions of older residents who enrich local communities through their time, skills and experience.
“The Victorian Senior of the Year Awards are about shining a light on the incredible efforts of seniors who make a difference every day,” Victorian Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt said.
“I encourage Victorians to take a moment to nominate an older person in their life who is making a meaningful contribution to their local community.”
Since its inception over three decades ago, these awards have celebrated the important roles that older Victorians play, from supporting their local communities to leading organisations that drive change across the state.
Last year, Professor Manjula Datta O’Connor was honoured as Victorian Senior of the Year for her groundbreaking work supporting women facing family violence.
Other recipients received accolades for their efforts in fostering inclusion, promoting health and wellbeing, and honouring veterans.
This year, nominations are accepted across six categories:
- The Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year, recognising outstanding community contributions;
- The COTA Victoria Senior Achiever Award;
- The Emerging Impact Award, for new volunteers making their mark;
- The Positive Ageing Award;
- The Promotion of Multiculturalism Award;
- The Veteran Community Award.
The awards ceremony will take place in October as part of the annual Victorian Seniors Festival, with all eligible nominees receiving a certificate of recognition.
Nominations are open online until Sunday, June 1, and are accessible to individuals aged 60 or older or 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians.
