Greater Shepparton City Council will be re-opening its Bushfire Donation Drop-off Centre at the Multi Purpose Pavilion at Shepparton Showgrounds on Wednesday, January 14 and Thursday, January 15, from 7am to 8pm.
Items required are toiletries — particularly sanitary items, deodorant and wipes — electrolyte drinks, pre-packed lollies and bottled water.
New blankets, pillows and towels are also needed, but tags will be checked to ensure these are new and not second-hand.
Council reminds residents that it cannot accept bedding, second-hand goods, clothing and furniture.
The donations will be delivered to the Seymour Relief Centre on Friday, where staff will then co-ordinate the distribution of all donations to assist the emergency relief centres supporting residents in neighbouring councils affected by the bushfires.
The goods will go to fire-affected residents and to help firefighters who are fighting the blaze.
Access to the donation drop-off centre at the showgrounds will be available via the Fryers St extension, at Gate 7 — between SPC and the showgrounds.
Mayor Shane Sali thanked the community for their generosity at the first donation drop-off centre, which was held on Saturday.
“A semi-load of fruit bins full of donations was collected on Saturday and delivered to the Seymour Relief Centre on Sunday,” he said.
“These donations are already making a huge difference for people who have been affected by the bushfires.
“The generosity and selflessness shown by the Greater Shepparton community over the past few days has been truly inspiring.
“Anyone who would like to get involved is encouraged to donate their items at the drop-off centre on Wednesday and Thursday, with these items going directly to people in need.”
