Students from Bourchier St Primary School donned their favourite football teams’ colours to present the money raised on their Footy Colours Day to Goulburn Valley Health Foundation and Engagement director Claire Ewart-Kennedy.

The students met Ms Ewart-Kennedy outside the school, with Blake Manning, Ella McLennan and Mack Parker dressed up in Hawthorn, Geelong and Richmond colours respectively.

The school has been running Footy Colours Day for several years, with money raised going to charity.

The Goulburn Valley Health Foundation was established in 1988 and runs out of the GV Health campus. It is charged with raising and directing funds for the betterment of Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley region.

The primary focus of fundraising efforts by the school students was children’s cancer, with the money raised being directed to GV Health’s oncology section.

Any organisation that raises money for Goulburn Valley Health Foundation is allowed to stipulate where the money goes.

Ms Ewart-Kennedy believes fundraisers such as the one done by the students at Bourchier St Primary School are great for creating a community link between the foundation and schools, kindergartens and other organisations in the community.

“It’s a partnership that everyone benefits from, their family benefits and if they don’t directly, they know someone who does,” Ms Ewart-Kennedy said.

Goulburn Valley Health Foundation has been partnered with Bourchier St Primary School for several years, and Ms Ewart-Kennedy wanted to publicly thank the school for making the foundation its primary charity.

“I encourage everyone to partner with Goulburn Valley Health Foundation because it is delivering for our community,” Ms Ewart-Kennedy said.
