It was a small ceremony, but that didn't make the crowd any less enthusiastic at Verney Road School on Tuesday, March 2, as the school announced its leaders for 2021.
After a turbulent 2020 full of uncertainty, lockdowns and cancellations of activities, new school captains Tom Sauiluma and Esther Moorhouse said they were looking forward to a more normal 2021.
“I'm really proud to be the captain in 2021 and I think it's going to be a really good year,” Esther said.
“I didn't really like last year because we had to be home a lot and I missed my friends and everything.”
She said she would try to bring people at the school together this year, something Tom agreed with.
“I'm really happy to be a captain and to be a leader,” he said.
He said the ceremony was wonderful, with City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O'Keeffe on hand to help with presentations.
The leadership team is Norman Watts, Aden Hitchcock, Joel Burke, Brandon Byrne, Will Simpson, Reece Turner, Natalie Hughes, Tom Sauiluma, Esther Moorhouse and Taylin Jackson.
