Well, now is your chance to ask.
To mark Community Safety Month this October, Greater Shepparton City Council, in partnership with numerous local organisations, will be conducting a series of videos and question-and-answer forums to help you, your friends and family.
Focusing on the themes of isolation, financial distress and emergency services, Greater Shepparton residents are being encouraged to submit their questions which will help shape the online activities.
Greater Shepparton City Council's social equity and safety co-ordinator Joel Board said the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District, Neighbourhood Watch, The Financial Counselling Network, Beyond Housing, Goulburn Valley Health, Victoria Police, and the Country Fire Authority were some of the many local organisations that would be taking part in the project.
“This year we are putting the spotlight on organisations in our area and the great work they do,” Mr Board said.
“The ideas and themes were developed by the committee after looking at trends that were reappearing in Greater Shepparton.
“People can ask any question they like such as a myth they may have a heard about a service, a point they want discussed or a question they've always wanted answered.
“The organisations will answer the questions openly and be transparent in a bid to provide positive solutions,” he said.
Shepparton police crime prevention officer Leading Senior Constable Glenn Gibson said the online activities were a great way to participate in the annual month-long event in a COVID-19-safe way.
“We are making ourselves available to address any concerns or questions from the community that relate to local police, whether it be law enforcement or crime prevention,” Ldg Sen Constable Gibson said.
“As people are emerging from restrictions of movement, it is more important than ever to reach out for assistance.
“All local organisations involved in this project are waiting to answer your questions,” he said.
To submit a question, email it to joel.board@shepparton.vic.gov.au or enter it online at greatershepparton.com.au/whats-happening/news/news-article/!/456/post/do-you-have-a-question-for-an-emergency-service-or-community-organisation or contact one of the participating organisations.
Questions can be submitted anonymously and the videos will be posted on a number of social media sites including the Facebook page Greater Shepparton City Council.
