Peter Everett has pleaded not guilty to sexual touching without consent and was due to face a local court hearing on Tuesday, but an administrative blunder resulted in the case being delayed until March 2027.
That's almost two years after the alleged incident in July 2025.
Judge John Arms found the hearing was likely to take two days, rather than the two hours left available to the Wyong Local Court on Tuesday.
It was not appropriate for the complainant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, to start giving evidence and then resume at some later date months in the future, the judge said.
Outside court, Everett said he was confident he would be able to clear his name when the matter eventually comes before the court.
"Light and truth and trust will come out, that's all you can do, and patience, that's the big one," the 67-year-old said.
"Happy New Year to everybody, see you in 2027."
Everett said he was "thrilled" after his bail was varied to allow him to live at his home on the Central Coast, having previously been forced to reside in Sydney under his previous conditions.
"No place like home," he said.
The former host's bail was further varied to allow him to travel to Bali twice in the next nine months for dental work.
Two hours of video material and lengthy cross-examination of the complainant were given as reasons for needing a new court date with more available time by Everett's lawyer Manny Conditsis.
A packed court schedule means the earliest available time for the two-day hearing is March 18 and 19.
Everett was an interior designer on the TV show Changing Rooms before hosting daytime show Ready Steady Cook from 2006 to 2011.
He was last seen on TV as a contestant on the Celebrity Apprentice in 2013.
