The 26-year-old visited the area to tell his story from tough upbringing to AFL cult hero, as part of a fundraising effort for the Kyabram P-12 Chaplaincy and bushfire appeal.
Organiser Liz Spicer said she was extremely thankful for Anthony and his mum, Jane McDonald, giving up their time to make the trip north from Melbourne.
“He was wonderful, and people around town are still buzzing after they heard his story,” she said.
“Anthony has an amazing story and it was really nice to be able to hear it in person. He took photos and signed items for anyone who asked.
“It's difficult to say just how much money we raised because there are still donations coming in, but we are looking forward to seeing the final total.
“Overall we're really pleased with how the event was received.”
As part of the night, State Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh donated two tickets to teenagers from the local area to attend.
“We're really grateful for Peter's support, he is always very good to us,” Liz said.
Liz and her fellow organisers would like to thank those who attended and anyone who has donated to the cause.
