On Tuesday, June 10, Moyola Aged Care staff members braved the cold and fought motor neurone disease with an ice bucket challenge to raise money and awareness.
Enrolled nurses Alyssa Camm and Chrissy Jones and personal care assistant Jemma Hayward were eager to contribute.
“We thought we’d get involved,” Ms Hayward said.
“One of the three of us, she talked us into it.”
At 2.30pm, the trio paraded out in their costumes, stepping into kiddie pools before they were doused with freezing water and ice.
Residents had the best seats in the house, watching from the warm indoors and cheering on their brave carers.
Moyola also co-ordinated a display window featuring FightMND decorations, greeting guests as they walked through the halls.
“It’s just to raise awareness, donating, getting everyone involved,” Ms Hayward said.
“If there are other charities that do something like this, then yeah, we’d be more than happy to get involved.
“But this one definitely really hits home for most of our residents and staff, so we’re happy to get involved.”
