Hats and beanies were out at Inspira Kids Early Learning Centre at Kialla on Tuesday afternoon, where a pack of energetic youngsters enjoyed the cold, winter sunshine.

IKELC's Melissa Penfold said the group of under three-year-olds were burning off plenty of excess energy before lunch and rest time.

“The kids like to get out and about when weather permits — just being in the outdoor elements is healthy,” she said.

IKELC has equipment that includes balancing beams and movable stepping stones to help children develop their motor skills through lifting, running, jumping, somersaults and activities that use their whole body.

Ms Penfold said the play session enabled the kids to get some healthy vitamin D while giving them a chance to socialise in the outdoors — a welcome breath of fresh air for the social educators too.
