The trip will be 20 days total and will be hosted for 10 days at an American school, with local families and will also use the opportunity to travel around the west coast of the country.
Around a year and a half ago, Education World Travel (G’ day USA) visited the school and gave the students a brief overview of who they are and what they do.
EWT organises and delivers safe, fun, educational tours and programs to overseas destinations.
Students, Mackenzie Hannan (Finley), Jemma Coombs (Finley), Phoebe Kennedy (Finley), Georgia Congram (Finley), Lachlan Simpson (Finley), Ben Anthony (Jerilderie) and Cassandra Renneberg (Berrigan) expressed their interest and will be heading over with Ellen Downey (previous Finley HS teacher).
After the students were approved for the program, the next step was to wait and grow excited at their itinerary.
“From then on, we were lucky to be involved in this great life experience,” Mackenzie said.
“The trip goes for 20 days. We will be staying with an American family in Seattle for ten days, having a real insight into what it's like living with an American family as well as experiencing an American school.
“For the other half of the trip, our adventure starts with exploring the famous San Fransisco sites followed by a snow day in the Cascade Mountains.
“We then head to the largest indoor outlet mall in the Pacific Northwest.
“Shortly after we head to Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland, riding on some of the biggest rollercoasters and rides.
“We finish our trip with a Hollywood night tour as well as seeing how movies are made and exploring the wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.
“We are sure in for one big adventure that we will never forget.”
The students will return from the USA for the start of term one 2020.
