Principal Simone Higgins said the trip begins with a four-day tour of Shanghai, where the students will visit sights including the Shanghai Zoo and markets.
“Some of our students haven’t flown out of Australia before so it’s very exciting,” Mrs Higgins said.
The students will then catch a bullet train to Nanjing, where they will attend a primary school for two weeks.
“Students will share their stories, they will have two days to spend with a host buddy and get the chance to perform at a closing ceremony for Chinese dignitaries and members of the Chinese Department of Education,” Mrs Higgins said.
“They will also learn different arts, crafts, dancing and kung fu — which is then culminated into this closing ceremony.”
Mrs Higgins said the experience will teach the students what it is like to attend school in another country while also learning about Chinese customs and culture.
The trip is expected to be a biennial event for the school.
