Opening at ARTBOX in Jacobsons Outlook, the exhibition explores how diverse creatures perceive our world.
Hickingbotham unveils landscapes in vibrant hues inspired by the extraordinary optics of animals, pushing beyond the limits of human vision.
Exploring creatures with ultraviolet vision, extra colour receptors and echolocation, Hickingbotham invites viewers to contemplate worlds seen uniquely through the eyes of these beings.
“Our planet is filled with living beings who experience the visual world in completely different ways than us,” he said.
“Many other creatures have extra senses such as ultraviolet vision, additional colour receptors, and even echolocation.
“The colours we see are detected by three photoreceptors: red, blue, and green.
“Other creatures, such as dragonflies, have up to 30 colour receptors.
“This means they can see colours humans cannot imagine.”
The exhibit, which runs from December 14 to January 2, 2024, promises an immersive experience, urging attendees to explore the unseen wavelengths and let the colours of imagination guide them through unconventional landscapes in Nagambie.
