Adopt a new furry family member

By Liz Mellino

Goulburn Valley residents are encouraged to adopt a furry companion on Saturday as part of National Adoption Day.

Shepparton Animal Shelter is working with PETstock to host the adoption day.

The day aims to find forever homes for cats and dogs, with all animals vet checked, desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and flea and worm treated.

Greater Shepparton City Council’s citizen services manager Laurienne Winbanks said adopting an animal from the shelter was a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

She said staff placed emphasis on matching the animals with the owner to make sure their new home was long lasting.

‘‘Staff are available to assist those who need help adopting a homeless pet and PETstock will have everything necessary to bring your pet home such as food, a bed and toys,’’ she said.

Saturday’s adoption day runs from 10am to 2pm at 210 Benalla Rd, Shepparton. For information about the adoption day, phone Shepparton Animal Shelter on 58329700.
