Heidelberg United was no match for the Suns’ young guns at McEwen Reserve, with the hosts toppling the travellers 4-2 to go third on the ladder.
Ethan Scipione opened his account to give the Suns the lead on 18 minutes.
Hassan Alhilfi did no damage to his reputation as a competition difference maker, bagging a quick-fire brace to have the Suns 3-0 up, while going atop the league’s golden boot standings.
Heidelberg scored either side of the Suns’ fourth courtesy of Alisina Alizada, but it was too little, too late as the home side held on for the win.
The under-15s earned their first point of the season following a see-sawing 3-3 draw.
Muhammad Alizada made it four in two games with yet another majestical double, scoring his first to put the Suns ahead in the 16th minute.
Alizada was at it again before the half, handing his side a 2-1 advantage after Heidelberg’s equaliser.
Andre Renato blasted the Suns ahead yet again as the clock ticked past the hour mark, and the mayhem continued as Heidelberg squared the ledger in the 68th minute to round out the scoring.
In the later match, the under-17s succumbed to defeat in a game of two halves.
After a lacklustre opening period, Gerald Corbo’s 67th minute spot kick gave the Suns a lifeline after Heidelberg’s Saleem Jaloh completed a classy hat-trick.
Jaloh instantly snuffed out any possibility of a comeback, banging in a fourth directly from the restart to finish off the game 4-1.
Lastly, the under-14s came out on the wrong end of a 10-goal thriller.
Suns’ Ella McIntyre, Toby Wane and Ciaan O’Brien each netted in the first half, but a second half romp had the visitors run out 7-3 victors at the whistle.
