Mr Morey was one of nine brave men who put on a show to help raise funds for the committee campaigning to build a Tocumwal ambulance station.
Weeks of rehearsals went into the Full Monty performance, which was organised by Many Bonet on behalf of the campaigning committee led by Tocumwal Lions.
‘‘Anything I asked of them was no trouble,’’ Ms Bonet said.
‘‘No event is a success without a great team behind it.
‘‘Everyone really enjoyed the night and had a good laugh which was one of the main reasons for the event.
‘‘The men – Kevin Morey, Daryll Morris, Rob Crown, Denis Sutton, Ashley Crawford, Brett Dicker, Sam Wood, Ryan Wearn and Glenn Braybon – really got into character. They all got spray tans and had a great time.
‘‘They all did an incredible job but if I had to choose a group legend, it would have to be Kevin.
‘‘It takes a special man to get involved at 92, and the crowd was right behind him.’’
The amount raised from the fundraiser was not confirmed at the time of going to print yesterday.
Ms Bonet said all proceeds, after costs, would assist the Lions Club in lobbying for the vital ambulance service.
Tocumwal is serviced by Fire & Rescue NSW first responders and ambulances in Finley, Jerilderie, Berrigan and in some cases Cobram.
In peak tourism periods, community members fear having no dedicated local ambulance service could be dangerous.
The campaign for a station started more than 20 years ago, with a renewed push in 2018 with the formation of the Ambulance for Tocumwal Steering Committee.
It gained momentum in the NSW Government election earlier this year, with support pledged by both former Nationals Member for Murray Austin Evans and his successor Helen Dalton, from the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.
The community is yet to see any formal progress.
