Edward Public School has continued its annual campaign of road safe education, in partnership with Murray River Police District.

For National Walk Safely to School Day, Senior Constable Meg Mayo and Constable Brendon Wisbey spent time with the children and their families talking about and putting safe practices into action.

National Walk Safely to School Day has multiple aims.

Not only is it aimed at safety when sharing the roads with motorists, it also encourages an active lifestyle.

“This great initiative encourages primary school children to walk and commute safely to school, while also promoting important road safety awareness, better health and wellbeing habits, and safe pedestrian behaviour,” the school said.

The National Walk Safely to School Day initiative is championed by the Pedestrian Council Australia with support from multiple agencies.
