Community members are also encouraged to submit questions for candidates ahead of the event.
The candidate forum is being delivered by the NSW Farmers Association in partnership with the Deniliquin Pastoral Times and Southern Riverina News, with support from Edward River Council.
It will be held at the Deniliquin RSL Club from 6.30pm, for a 7pm-9pm forum, and is expected to be one of only a handful of forums held outside major population centres such as Albury and Griffith.
All eight confirmed candidates for Farrer have been invited to attend by the NSW Farmers Association, with any additional candidates announced before nominations close on April 13 also to be included.
NSW Farmers executive committee member and Deniliquin branch president Amanda Barlow said the forum would give voters direct insight into where candidates stand on issues critical to regional Australia.
“The Farrer by‑election will be a barometer for New South Wales and the nation,” Mrs Barlow said.
“This forum allows the community to hear directly from candidates on issues such as water policy, fuel security, supply chains and food and fibre security.”
Pastoral Times and Southern Riverina News general manager Nigel Lutton said community‑submitted questions would play a central role in guiding the discussion.
“This is democracy in action,” Mr Lutton said.
“We encourage as many people as possible to register, submit questions and attend the forum to better understand how committed candidates are to the issues that matter most to our towns and communities.”
