And that’s exactly what the Jervis family were hoping to achieve when they set out promoting a special event in Conargo this weekend.
Known as the Conargo Whipcrackers, Jesse, Brooke and Beau Jervis were showcasing their skills in the Deniliquin Waring Gardens as promotion for the inaugural ‘Conargo: A Day with Legends’.
Incorporating the NSW Whipcracking Titles and a family fun day, the legends day will be hosted at the Conargo Recreation Reserve from 9am to 5pm Saturday.
And it’s part of a huge weekend of activities, sure to keep everyone engaged in the lead up to Easter.
The whipcracking titles are expected to attract competitors and spectators from across the state, adding a significant drawcard to the new community festival hosted by the Conargo Hall Committee.
Visitors can also expect bush butchering displays, Australian Light Horse skill-at-arms and tent pegging demonstrations, and a blade‑shearing showcase.
Entry to see the displays and demonstrations is free, but a $10 wristband must be purchased if you want unlimited access to all the rides and entertainment.
Not just directed at children, the entertainment includes a dinosaur treasure hunt, bucking bull ride, inflatable castle and airbrush tattooing, all running throughout the day.
There will also be live music, food trucks and a bar operating, with free camping available on site.
One of the other big events this weekend - the Deniliquin Poker Run fundraiser for Deniliquin Can Assist - will also drop in at Conargo on the run tour of district hotels.
Other special events this weekend include a Buick car club visit to Deniliquin on Friday, the Model T Ford Car Club of Victoria visit to Deniliquin on Saturday, and the first 2026 event of the South West Music Concert Series on Friday night.
More about each of the other events can be found inside this edition.
