A measly 0.6mm fell for the entire month.
The previous lowest January rainfall recorded in the town was 1mm in 1965 — the same year the Bureau of Meteorology started to record weather at a weather station in Lemnos.
It was the lowest January rainfall total recorded since the bureau moved to taking weather recordings at the Shepparton Airport 30 years ago.
The February rainfall was about normal, with 31.4mm recorded, only down by 0.4mm on the mean historical total for the month over the past 30 years.
The most rain on one day came on February 23 when 16.8mm fell.
December’s rainfall was higher than usual, with the highest summer monthly rainfall of 45mm.
This was 11.4mm more than the historical January mean rainfall over the past 30 years.
December also saw the highest rainfall in a single day in summer, with 23.8mm on December 21.
Overall, summer days were a little hotter than usual overall, with both January and February recording hotter temperatures than the historical mean, with December also higher than usual, but only by 0.3°C.
As well as having been the driest summer month this year, January was also the hottest.
The mercury topped out at 45.3°C on January 8 — less than a degree cooler than the hottest January day since records began in 1965.
January also saw eight days over 40°C.
Only two other days over 40°C were recorded for the entire summer — one in December and another in February.
The coolest February day came on the first day on summer, December 1, when the mercury reached only 29.6°C.
Night-time minimum temperatures were similar to the historical average, with January and February slightly warmer, and December slightly cooler.
The hottest summer night this year came on January 28, when the temperature dropped to only 25.4°C.
The coldest night this summer was right at the start of the season, when it was a chilly 6.4°C.
