That’s the story for Euroa’s division one midweek pennant side, which conquered Shepparton Golf at Tatura Bowls Club to book its spot in the Edna Harling Shield grand final.
After surviving its elimination final against Seymour VRI, Euroa turned its attention to a Golf outfit keen to avoid a straight sets exit, and honours were split in a tense two rinks.
Euroa’s Bill Taylor clinched a 17-13 result over Peter Leseuer’s quartet, but Golf’s ever reliable Kris Ferguson was on the money in his rinks 24-18 triumph.
It was the third, decisive rink where Euroa ran away with the game, as the Shane Holmes-skipped four opened an unassailable buffer, streaking away with a 26-8 win.
In the end, the 14-61 to 2-45 final score was enough for Euroa to punch its ticket to next week’s grand final against Shepparton Park and complete a turnaround from seventh last season to the last day of the pennant season.
Shepparton Golf will still be represented on grand final day, however, with the division two outfits five-shot win over Shepparton Park booking a showdown against Nagambie.
In division three, Numurkah and Mooroopna Golf will battle for the pennant, while Shepparton Park and Dookie in division four and Eildon and Nagambie in division five round out the 2025-26 midweek pennant grand finalists.
