Dees duo Ashanti Walker and Tabatha Ingham were named in the Indigenous and Multicultural squads respectively, with both receiving expert football and personal tutelage at a high-performance camp in Melbourne recently before facing off in a showcase match.
“The Academies provide an advanced football experience for our emerging Indigenous and Multicultural footballers,” AFL diversity talent programs manager Narelle Long said.
“Players will have access to a specialised development model focused on their individual needs to further assist them to reach their Draft potential, as week as tailored support to assist their growth off the field.”
Meanwhile, several Goulburn Murray Women and Girls league stars will have a chance to establish their credentials at the Talent League level.
The Murray Bushrangers under-16 girls squad has been named, with several local stars set to compete in two games across February and March.
Among the names is Shepparton United Youth Girls duo Meagan Garner and Jammisyn Lavis, with Lavis no stranger to the underage Bushrangers set-up after competing in two under-16 games last season.
Shepparton Swans’ Nyla Anderson, Nathalia’s Sienna Jorgensen, Cobram’s Madelynn Price, and Mansfield’s Phoebe Guppy have also been tapped to pull the boots on after a good run of form.
The Bushrangers will face GWV Rebels on Saturday, February 28 at Seaford’s Belvedere Reserve, allowing players to showcase their skillset and stake their claim for future Bushies honours.
