The Rise from the Ashes concert on Saturday, February 7, will see musicians from Shepparton, Euroa, Longwood, Benalla, Wangaratta and Melbourne perform.
Among the performers will be well-known local country music icon Reg Poole, who is set to perform at 3pm.
Running from 1pm to 10pm, the concert will have something for everyone, with country, rock, pop and rock ’n’ roll among the genres being performed.
Most musicians will perform a 20-minute set, with some slated to perform more than one set throughout the day.
The concert is the brainchild of Euroa’s Gayle Mawson, a singer and owner of Mawson’s Bakery, and came from her desire to help those who had lost so much in the fires.
Gayle put out a call to her musician friends on Facebook, and said she was humbled by the number of replies she got from so many in the industry.
“All my muso friends put their hands up … and they’ve give up their time for free,” she said.
Gayle said she expected that some people would go for the whole day, but many would just go for a few hours.
Tickets for the event are $25 per person, with all money going directly to bushfire-affected residents in the district.
The Euroa Lions Club will also cook a barbecue at lunch and dinner times, with all profits also going to the bushfire relief fundraising efforts.
Raffles, lucky door prizes and a Nifty 50 spinning wheel will also help raise even more funds.
Gayle said the idea for the concert came because she wanted to do something to help.
“The money will go to those affected by the fires and need a helping hand during recovery,” she said.
“I just wanted to do something. This is the way I could contribute to help.
“We have to do what we can to help people get back on their feet.”
The concert will be held at the Euroa Third Age Club at 19 Kirkland St in Euroa.
Bookings are essential to secure a seat at tables, and can be made by phoning Jimmy Davidson on 0412 723 356.
People are also welcome to take along their own chairs and sit on the lawns outside.
While the Lions Club will have the fundraising barbecue operating at meal times, people can also take along their own nibblies and alcohol.
