On Wednesday, January 7, Greater Shepparton City Council will be running a free family event at Victoria Lake Park, broadcasting Australia’s top domestic T20 competition on the big screen.
Featuring a range of events, games, food and refreshments, the evening is anticipated to be a blast to support the Melbourne Renegades, as they take on the Perth Scorchers in Western Australia.
Kicking off at 4pm will be a Shepparton girls All-Star Game, highlighting the burgeoning young cricket talent from the region.
At the game’s conclusion an hour later, young people inspired to give the game a go can participate in a supportive cricket clinic that will teach those who join the skills of the sport.
In the lead-up to the match, Melbourne Renegades fan engagement activities will be spread across the park, including a bowling tunnel with a speed gun and a catching mat, as well as merchandise stalls and giveaways run throughout the session.
As middle stump is marked at 7.15pm, the Renegades will continue its BBL|15 campaign against the Scorchers, with the drawcard expected to attract a range of people to witness the cricket on the Victoria Park Lake big screen.
The event, supported by the Renegades and Cricket Victoria, will be an engaging community gathering as the school holiday period continues through into the new year, with City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali raving about the opportunity.
“This event gives our community a chance to experience the excitement of Big Bash cricket close to home while also enjoying activities by the lake,” he said.
“It is a fun, free and family-friendly evening and we encourage everyone to come along.”
