Major departures have occurred in the Goulburn Valley and Kyabram District leagues, with two midfield generals announced by their new clubs in the past week.
Shepparton United has lost home-grown star Kade Chalcraft following one season back at his junior club, with the classy left-footer joining his brother Jye at WAFL club Swan Districts.
It’s clear Chalcraft’s exit leaves massive boots to fill at Deakin Reserve.
Chalcraft was an instant hit back at the Demons and, though team success wasn’t frequent during 2025, the midfield gun raked in United’s senior best-and-fairest, the GVL MVP award as well as an interleague cap this year.
Mid-defender Dae Szydlik has also farewelled Demonland, signing at junior club St Kilda City in Southern Football Netball League after 31 games in navy and red.
United has looked to offset the balance by bringing in two more players, Murchison-Toolamba’s Brodie Sanders and Nathan Turner, seeing the Demons’ recruitment pool reach double digits since the last ball was bounced in competition.
Meanwhile, KDL power Lancaster has farewelled a jet after four memorable years.
Cameron Simpson joined the Wombats midway through the 2022 campaign, going on to win a premiership and grand final best-on-ground medal that year and the year after.

He aided Lancaster to deep finals runs in 2024 and 2025 – where he made the KDL Team of the Year in both – but will trade blue and yellow for gold and green next season to suit up for QAFL side Maroochydore.
Some 20km south-east of Lancaster, Tatura has continued to call in the cavalry for 2026.
The Bulldogs have unveiled a pair of exciting pick ups, luring Kieran Andrew and Finn Radley to the club as new coach Andrew Ciavarella looks to make a statement following consecutive wooden spoons.
Key defender Radley joins from Warrnambool in the Hampden league, coming off a sharp finals campaign for the Blues where he was also named in the Team of the Year.
Versatile small defender Andrew is a three-time Northern Football League premiership player with Heidelberg, part of a Tigers dynasty alongside former Tatura gun Sean Martin.
Further west, Rochester has been on a signing spree, injecting some young blood in the form of Fletcher White, Coby Dunlop (Mt Pleasant), Darby Wileman (Moama) and Jude Palmer (Cohuna).
Lastly, Mooroopna ball magnet Ethan Hunt has switched allegiances to Essendon District Football League juggernaut Aberfeldie, closing the chapter on four seasons in Cats colours while free from VFL commitments with Footscray.
