Local waste, recycling and events solutions company FOOTT has been covering the cost of the local food relief service’s general waste, recycling bins and regular collections since the beginning, saving it around $65,000.
Now, FOOTT has reaffirmed its commitment by delivering two new bins, branded with the FOOTT Cares Community logo, to Foodshare’s warehouse and distribution centre in Mooroopna.
“As one of our founding supporters, Peter and Jenny Foott have led the way for other local businesses also wanting to support the community in which they operate and to achieve their corporate social responsibility goals,” Shepparton Foodshare executive officer Dee Healey said.
The partnership saves Shepparton Foodshare around $5000 in costs each year.
While Foodshare has minimal food waste, its volunteers sort the packaging from donated food to make sure recyclable waste is separated from general waste.
In the past, FOOTT has also taken up Foodshare’s monthly partner opportunities, which see individuals or businesses commit to providing a set tax-deductible amount towards the service’s operating costs during their partner month.
“We are proud to support Dee, her team and the incredible volunteers,” FOOTT chief executive Andrew Yeoland said.
“With their new facility now up and running, it was the perfect opportunity to deliver new bins.”
In the past two years, Shepparton Foodshare has distributed more than 480,000kg of food each year, or the equivalent of 10 million meals, to people in need.
