On Thursday, October 16, St Mel’s Majellan Club marked its 60th anniversary with a special Mass at Saint Mel’s Catholic Church, followed by a lunch at the GV Hotel in Shepparton.
Founded in honour of St Gerard Majella, the patron saint of mothers and babies, the group has evolved from beyond a social circle into one dedicated to supporting those in need.
“It’s a club that looks after each other, and if people need help, you share the help,” club president Lorraine Corish said.
“It’s been a wonderful morning. Everyone has commented on how lovely the mass was, and it brought back beautiful memories.”
News photographer Rechelle Zammit was at the lunch to capture the club members, priests and parish friends from across the district celebrating together.
