Students from nine schools across Greater Shepparton and surrounding districts came together on September 19 at Bourchier Street Primary School for the Lions Club Junior Public Speaking Finals. The event gave Year 3 to 6 students the opportunity to showcase their speaking skills, confidence and creativity in front of fellow competitors, judges and community members.

Throughout the finals, students presented their well-prepared speeches on topics such as “If you could invent something new, what would it be?” and “The impact of fast-moving technology on our lives and the environment is often overlooked, yet it can be far reaching. Is technology moving too fast for humans to keep up?”, impressing the audience with their thoughtful ideas, humour and polished delivery.
Lions Club members praised the standard of competition and the courage shown by each speaker. The event not only celebrated public speaking but also encouraged young leaders to develop lifelong skills in communication and confidence, with all participants recognised for their efforts.
