They say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life, but creators are rarely content with their unique talents being used ‘just’ to make their daily bread and butter.

So, what does a creative do for a hobby if their craft is their work?
More of it, of course, but using a more raw form of self-expression, unrestrained by the brief of a commissioned piece.
In a first for the motoring museum and the creators themselves, an exclusive Art in Motion exhibition is on display at MOVE.
It’s a celebration of collectors, tradespeople and artisans working within the automotive and associated industries, whose craftsmanship extends beyond their craft into the realm of art.
“Chris Pace had an idea that grew into what we see in the museum today; the work of skilled local and international artisans,” MOVE’s Andrew Church said.
From coachbuilders, metal fabricators and engineers, to pin-stripers, painters and photographers, the art pieces provide a distinctly rare insight into the imaginations of the creators whose regular ‘bread and butter’ work is already widely known in the industry.
“It’s the first time the museum has transformed into an art display,” Mr Church said.
“Being automotive-based, we thought it was very fitting.”
The Art in Motion exhibition pieces are spread throughout the museum, between its automotive displays.
The exhibition is accompanied by its very own artful soundtrack; rock classics reimagined into soft gallery music featuring violins and pianos.
MOVE is open from 10am to 5pm daily and the Art in Motion exhibition runs until October 30.
