The vibrant celebration of Greater Shepparton’s rich cultural diversity attracted about 600 attendees, transforming the lakeside precinct into a hub of energy and inclusion with live performances, interactive workshops, and food trucks serving flavours from around the world.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali praised the event as a true reflection of the region’s multicultural spirit.
“Mosaic Festival brought our community together ... (and showed) the many cultures that make Greater Shepparton such a vibrant place to live,” he said.
“It was inspiring to see the Greater Shepparton Amplify Youth Committee step up and lead with such confidence.
“Their ideas and efforts shaped a festival that the whole community could enjoy and be proud of.”
Reflecting on the organisation of Mosaic Festival, Amplify Youth Committee member Batul Mgoter noted how it showed the impact young people could have in shaping community events.
Overall, she described it as a “rewarding experience”.
“Our aim was to make Mosaic Festival fun, welcoming and inclusive, and it was amazing to see people of all ages enjoying the performances, food and activities,” she said.
Adding to the festival’s significance, the Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District celebrated its 40th anniversary during the festivities.
“(This) made it even more meaningful, as it celebrated not only our diversity but also four decades of building belonging and inclusion in Greater Shepparton,” Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District chief executive Sam Atukorala said.
Community feedback is open at shepp.city/mosaicsurvey until Wednesday, October 1, to help shape future events.
