$31m boost for aged care in regional Victoria

Shepparton is one of several communities across regional Victoria set to benefit from a major funding announcement in the aged care sector.

The Federal Government has committed more than $31 million to Victorian projects as part of the $300 million Aged Care Capital Assistance Program, with Shepparton’s Rumbalara Multi-Aged Care Complex to receive $2.8 million to build six new staff accommodation units.

Senator for Victoria Jana Stewart said the funding would directly benefit local residents and staff.

“As someone who grew up in regional Victoria, I know how important it is that older people can get the care they need without having to leave their community,” she said.

“These investments will help attract and retain the workforce we need to deliver aged care across our regions.”

Other regional projects include $2.1 million to extend the Morrie Evans Wing Nursing Home in Benalla, $7.5 million for a new 32-bed residential wing at Karingal Seymour, and new staff housing in Boort and Minyip.

Nationwide, this round of funding will deliver 315 new or reopened aged care beds, adding to the $651 million already invested through the program since 2022.
