Hill has made just one AFL appearance, as the substitute, in the past three months, due to personal reasons.
But the 2023 Norm Smith Medallist has ramped up his training in a bid to feature at the pointy end of the season.
Both Hill and Jeremy Howe (adductor) got through last Friday's main session in a bid to press their respective cases for Saturday's preliminary final against Brisbane at the MCG.
"I guess they'll both be putting their hand up," Sidebottom said.
"It's a matter of coaches and the fitness staff, if they think they've done enough work.
"I'm confident that if they're confident in themselves, that they'll be able to get through. But I'm not making the call, but it'd be nice to see them out there."
Sidebottom was unsure whether Hill had done enough to justify selection.
"I'm not sure, to be honest," he said.
"Like, I think his last kind of block he's been much more consistent in what he's been able to do. He's proven to be able to perform on the big stage.
"Whether he has done enough work, I'm not too sure. And as I said, it's not really my call.
"But I think we've seen what he can do, and if he's to play then he'll add some flair and stuff to our game."
Hill's was pivotal to Collingwood's 2023 grand final win over the Lions and he looms as a big game player again if selected.
"Whether it's Bobby, whether it's someone else, I think everyone's going to have their chance to be a part of a moment," Sidebottom said.
"... I'll be more than confident that if a moment arises for anyone, that they'll be able to capture it and grab it with both hands."
Brody Mihocek looked sore last Friday but Sidebottom was optimistic he could also feature.
"Clearly, he wasn't 100 per cent but I suppose we've had a bit of time, and probably didn't need to rush it as well, give him a little bit more time to rest it," he said.
Collingwood, the most experienced team in the league, came under fire for being too old after a poor opening round loss to GWS, but have silenced some doubters.
"I didn't read too much into it," Sidebottom said.
"I think it probably only comes out when we're struggling and not playing well.
"So hopefully it's not an excuse come Saturday afternoon."
