Having comfortably beaten Rushworth on both of the two previous occasions they had met, the Redlegs were brimming with confidence, and set out with intent.
Capitalising on all of the early momentum, Tallygaroopna raced out to a 14-6 lead by quarter time, dominating defensively and through the midcourt, which was converted with great accuracy in the attacking third.
It continued in the second, as the Redlegs, who had finished top of the ladder with just one loss for the year, stretched the margin out to 10 goals nearing half time, a lead which soon became 13 with a goal on the siren as they looked to bury the Tigers heading into the main interval.

The third term is named the premiership quarter for a reason, and while Rushworth was brave, Tallygaroopna went from strength to strength, defying the Tigers’ resistance to pull away and open up a 17-goal lead at one point, however Rushworth maintained focus, pulling back some of the margin to head into the final change down 26-39.
With a 13-goal deficit to overcome, it would take nothing short of a miracle for the Tigers to mount a comeback, as all that the Redlegs had to do was avoid a horrendous capitulation in the final term, which they did comfortably, running out a superb 52-37 victory to clinch the under-15 flag.
In such a dominant team performance, it was Tallygaroopna’s goal attack Lexie Pearce that was named best on court by the umpires, having played superbly all day and helping her side to a brilliant win.
